We’re really excited about our 2nd Birmingham SOUP this Saturday at Impact Hub Birmingham. The volunteer team who set up Birmingham SOUP decided that our SOUP values should be: To be inclusive, Creative, Sustainable and Democratic. We try to use our SOUP values to run a tight ship, so every decision we make is done via a group vote, we try to source second hand whenever and wherever possible and we are constantly using our most creative brains to tell more people about SOUP (check out this awesome vid that our Paul made HERE). In the spirit of inclusivity we wanted to make every 2nd SOUP family friendly which means folks with children or family members with carers can come to a daytime, Saturday SOUP to hear all the amazing project pitches, share some food and to have their vote.
We’re hoping that our last SOUP before Christmas will be as friendly as possible and have invited How Brave is the Wren traveling children’s book shop to set up shop in the courtyard at Impact Hub to share stories and activities for children.
If you’d like to come to Birmingham SOUP on Saturday 14th November 2015 from 11am then please RSVP to our Eventbrite page so we have your details.
WHAT IS SOUP?
The goal of Birmingham SOUP is to offer a safe space where people can gather and share a meal to encourage conversation, relationship building and resource sharing while supporting creative community projects in Birmingham. We want to be democratic, creative, sustainable and inclusive.
SOUP is a great way to raise money, build community support and get connections to local resources that can help you carry out your project.
Each event sees four project proposals presented plus food, fun and music. With a suggested entrance fee of £5 supporters are encouraged to bring and share food while voting for the community project they think is the best. The project with the most votes wins the money taken on the door and leaves with the funds that day.
